HELLOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Welcome to blog number 67! Holy cow, that’s a lot of days. They seem to be flying by. Anyhow, we have a very action-packed day. This morning, after breakfast, we dinghied on over to grab a taxi for our ISLANNNDDD tourrrrr!!!! This day was prefaced by Calum to be muddy and wet. Most of us assumed that maybe meant hiking or something along those lines, but that wasn’t quite the dealio. We realized that once we started driving and got a big whiff of rotten egg smell. We were about to experience some volcanic hot springs. First, we got a tour of the most active part of the crater ( also the most fragrant ). Mud was bubbling and steaming like crazy. You would not want to fall into that thing. Then we headed on over to the bath! We started by hopping into the warm water, and we all felt euphoric about how warm and nice it felt after the absence of warm showers for a couple of months.
Then we were instructed to put on de-aging gray clay and decorate ourselves with the black clay. We all looked pretty epic. (See the picture if skeptical). After that, we headed over to see a big ol’ botanical garden. This garden was VIBRANT with all sorts of plants and fauna. Our tour guide, Joan, had lots and lots to say about every plant in there. I probably don’t have the time or memory to go over every single plant she told us about purely due to the sheer quantity of things she showed us but one thing we did see was a walking tree, yes, it does exist. At the end of that, we ate lunch in the van and headed over to a waterrrfalllllll. This waterfall was so so warm.
We played like little children in a kiddie pool for probably not as long as we all liked, but we had a blast. There were breath-holding competitions, whale breaching imitations, death dives, and even meditating under the warm flow of the waterfall. Nini, Dairy, Calum, and Shane seemed to be the champs of the breath holds. After we reluctantly packed up from there, we walked back for a fisheries lecture from Ben. Seapriracy documentary is soon to come. For dinner, we had a yummy pesto pasta dinner. Darien, Nini, Zac, Cecil, and I made the mistake of swimming back to the boat and getting stung by some menacing jellies, once again, but we recovered just fine. Now, we are taking showers and getting ready for a calm little sign-out night. Overall, another great day for the Argo crew! Talk to you guys in 20 days!!!!!
