Location: Underway to the Caribbean

The 00:00-04:00 started out normally. The Jib was talking to Teo all night for him to turn to port, per usual. Everything seemed normal so I thought. As my watch team and I were sitting on the combing in the cockpit, we glanced over to the horizon and we saw these two red devil-like horns rising from the horizon. I kid you not, we were all speechless for 2 minutes. We were all so confused about what was glaring at us in the distance. As the devil horns kept rising, we all came to the conclusion that it was just the moon rising. After all that freaking out for nothing, it’s time for grub fifteen. This is where Teo and I go down the galley every two hours and fifteen minutes into watch to make as much food as possible. It starts out with Teo doing the boat check, and me meeting him down below ten minutes after he leaves for his boat check, so we can be back up in the cockpit just in time for grub fifteen. Watch comes to an end, and we all happily get back into our beds. I wake up to almost everyone on the boat studying for our marine bio exam. Even up on watch, watch team five has their papers out studying for this exam. Meg has us all scared to death, telling us this is THE exam that people tend to fail. After lunch, we all gather in the salon to take the exam, which I most definitely failed, but I have high hopes for the rest of my crewmates. We finish up seamanship and are all told to muster in the cockpit and get surprised with the news we have all been waiting for. Nick tells us we have forty-five minutes in the middle of the Atlantic to swim and take ocean showers. Everyone is having the time of their life, we are tossing around a water polo ball, playing sharks and minnows, others jumping off the bow nets, and some swimming down as deep as they can get the crazy photo everyone wishes for. To get back underway, we had to raise the sails, and what better way to do that than to have watch teams race to raise each sail. Watch team four was on the main sail, watch team five was on the main staysail, and watch team six was on the forward staysail. Shane counts us down, and we all start racing to raise our sails. It was a hectic race, but watch six ended up taking the win. As Charlie would say, we’re HOOONING!!! We end our day with a delicious meal made by Liv, Bryson, and Amelia with another beautiful sunset.

I hope everyone’s families and friends are doing well, and I miss all my family back at home. Also, happy birthday to my best friend, Brandon, who passed away over the summer. I have been thinking and missing you so much, and know you are watching over. BG6 much love.
