Its day 863, and we are at our crossing with no sight of land for days. (not including us passing Cape Verde 2 days ago) Today, we woke up to the smell of Claire cooking pesto pasta for lunch, which everyone loved. While she cooked lunch and most of us were asleep, watch team 1, which was singing and dancing on deck from 8 am to 12 am, where Ruby found Boston dangling a dead flying fish over her head, which she very much enjoyed. But speaking of fish, this morning Theo decided to share his dream about catching a massive tuna on the boat, which he told everyone about. (this will come into play later in the blog)
After lunch, we had oceanography with Mich and Seamanship with Mac and Claire. We were split up for seamanship, which left some of us up on deck still to hang out and be on watch. While some of us were working in the salon, Eduardo and Mac were fishing off the stern with their hand lines and caught a huge Skip Jack tuna! With a big audience of people, they cut up the tuna on deck while everyone watched their professional fisherman skills. Smash and Tom said we couldnt bring the tuna into the galley because it was too smelly, but fortunately, we werent picky, and we were a little impatient, so we ate the raw tuna for an hour with some lemon juice and sriracha. Who knew Theo could predict the future? As in Cats words, maybe we should ask Theo to dream about catching a tub of ice cream next, which I 100% agree with.
Once the tuna fiasco was over, everyone hung out on deck for a little while before dinner. Dan, Audrey, Jesse, Lukas, Mich, and Boston talked on the martingale until it started to drizzle. We all put on our rain gear and waited for dinner to be ready. With Eliss help, Claire made delicious matcha white chocolate cookies for dinner, which was a special treat. Thank you, Elis and Claire. We ended the day off with our circle of squeeze and our appreciation for the day. It was a good day to be in the middle of the Atlantic. (except maybe if you were a tuna)
