Location: St Barths to Isle Fourche

Who doesn’t love waking up to a good laugh? Drew and I were sitting on deck after relieving dock watch, and as it got closer to 06:00, the sun started to illuminate the deck. We saw something strange on the compass. We glanced around the boat, and suddenly, there were eyes EVERYWHERE! Quite possibly my favorite prank of all times, after a semester of Drew making jokes about how so many ordinary things would be more fun with googley eyes on them, some of the students found a party supply store in St Barths and made his dreams come true. Now, most surfaces in the chart house are constantly watching you. See below for photos of some of the fan favorites.

The rest of the crew got to experience quite a strange thing… a morning of sleeping in. While the freedom to sleep seemed to be enjoyed, breakfast plans for most were in action fairly early to take advantage of the cafes galore in St Barths. Everyone left dressed their best for a day that, for most, consisted of a bit of shopping and a lot of ice cream.

By 15:30, everyone was back on board, and the engine was on. Getting off the dock with three anchors out (yes, we do have a third anchor 🙂 and quite a bit of swell is a particular process, but with all hands on deck and careful planning from Freddie, it went smoothly, and we were off to Isle Fourche! It’s a short ride from St Barths to this uninhabited little island, and it appears we may have it all to ourselves. Seamester is famous for its beautiful sunrises and is an ideal rescue training spot. It has an almost desert looking landscape surrounding a few rock formations and a small beach.

Perks of having just left the dock: dinner involved garlic bread made from fresh French baguettes and a big salad with roasted chickpeas. With full, happy bellies, I wanted to get everyone into the holiday spirit and asked the squeeze question of sharing a favorite holiday or birthday tradition with the group.
