Location: Underway to Saint Helena
Today was our first full day on passage! We were assigned to our watch teams yesterday, so we have all been on different schedules since 6 P.M. Most of us have been exhausted trying to adjust to sleeping on a rocking boat and a new sleep schedule once again. When we are underway, we dont have breakfast all together due to our crazy sleep schedules, but for lunch at noon, we ate amazing Mediterranean bowls – topped with a homemade tzatziki sauce – made by Kyler. After lunch and cleanup, we had Oceanography class – taught by Kyler – where we learned about marine provinces. After, we had leadership – and had class on deck in the cockpit – where we took a personality colors test. We were lucky enough to see a loggerhead sea turtle snacking on some kelp, too! There have also been a ton of albatrosses flying everywhere. Albatrosses werent the only things flying today. We had a whoopsie in the galley when the prepped tomato, parsley, and olive salad flew off the fridge. We dont like to waste food on this boat so with a hot water soak, some white vinegar, and a cold water rinse, the salad was all fresh and clean and no one would have known about it unless they were told. So shhh! We counted off, had our question of the day, – Whats your biggest hot take? – and started cleanup. The weather has been sunny and clear and swells have been between 1.5-2 meters tall today. The start of our first passage has been great so far.
To the Bluths, Rudderhams, and Muterts, I hope all is well. I miss you guys! And a very Happy Birthday to Alex Rickert!
