Location: Statia
After a hearty breakfast of yogurt, granola, and fresh watermelon, everybody made and packed sandwiches to bring on our hike. We loaded up our dinghy, Exy, and headed to shore to conquer the volcano Mount Quill which last erupted in 450 AD. It was an awesome hike to the top of the perfectly formed volcanic crater. We found amazing views looking over Statia and the ocean, plus a bunch of feral chickens! Some of us decided to continue hiking around the rim of the crater or down into it, while the others went back to town/ beach to finish their Oceanography research projects. Once everyone finished the hike, we all made our way back to Ocean Star and took some much-needed showers. Tonight we have our MTE class, where we will be perfecting our newfound navigation skills! Until tomorrow!
