Location: Rodney Bay, St. Lucia

Imagine my surprise when I went down into the salon promptly at 7 am to wake up the boat, only to find that everyone (except one) was already awake; either snorkeling the beautiful reef next to our mooring or cheffing in the galley-so shout out to Alex for letting me do my skipper job of wake-ups. We had a lovely breakfast of eggs, toast, and bacon and then started getting Ocean Star ready for our cruise back to Rodney Bay. This included getting all of the clothes off our lifelines (yay for not looking like a laundry boat!), coiling all of the sheets, and bringing up Irv. Brett led the deck and got Ocean Star ready in record time. Once we slipped the lines off the mooring ball (shout out to Hedrek and Sam, who fed the lines through the eyelet), we decided that it would be a shame to not show off O star to the Pitons. We cruised around the bay of both Petit Piton and the formable Gros Piton. We then raised sail and got going to Rodney Bay. Brett led the mainsail raise, Fizz led the foresail, and Kelly led the staysail- all of which went swimmingly! The sail was beautiful-although many got a little sunburnt. The raddest part was raising all five sails (whoo, go flying jib!). O star really got the memo that this was a leisure sail and had us coasting at a whopping two kts. Eventually, in order to make dinner on shore, we had to turn on the engine to cruise just a touch faster. I DJ’ed the whole sail- shout out to Shumama, as we listened to a lot of Grateful Dead- such good vibes. Our docking into Rodney went super smooth as we got to go in our usual place at the end of the dock (previously occupied by the Below Deck yacht). Now everyone is getting all showered and spiffy for dinner onshore and a chill sign-out night.

Shout out to my family- miss you, oodles!
