Hello, beautiful people of the blogging world! I think were 5 days into passage maybe Its quite literally impossible to tell. Another day of passage under our belts, but today was special. Today we got to SAIL! The winds have not been so in our favor the last few days, but with a bit more wind behind us, and a main engine service required, today was OUR DAY! Watch team 3 (myself, Perry, Nashota, Henry, and Camilla, with special guest Grant) was the lucky watch team to get to raise the main as well as the flying jib during our 8-12 watch.
The main went up first with ease! The flying jib gave us a few troubles, but eventually we got her up and sailed our way into the afternoon! For lunch, head chef Alexa made BBQ chicken sandwiches with homemade bread rolls. After lunch, we had Oceanography with Kyler, where the students learned about air-sea interactions. Next, they had Leadership with me! We made Value Jars to discuss what we value most and the different tiers of our values.
After classes, we all spent the rest of the afternoon enjoying the sailing. Some people spent some time studying up on deck, Zoe and Kyler helmed their way through the 2-6 watch, and Sam and I did a workout together!
Dinner was Penne Vodka (without vodka, of course) with chicken and some veggies.
Now we get ready to drop the sails for the night. It may have only lasted for a few hours, but all the work was well worth it to glide our way across the Atlantic for a few hours with nothing but the power of the wind in our sails.
To all the families back home we miss you!!
To my family and friends, I hope you all know how much I love and miss you every day.
