Location: Mountain Point, Virgin Gorda, BVI
This morning, we woke up to the wonderful smell of pancakes being cooked by our chefs at the crack of dawn. We then went immediately into another open water dive where we went down to 25 feet and practiced skills, like partially flooding the mask and clearing it underwater, as well as a controlled emergency safety ascent. After that, we got our first introduction to sailing this beautiful ship. We went over line handling and removed the sail covers. After a short lunch, it was time to weigh anchor and head out to sea. We started by raising the mainsail and followed with four more. After getting out into open water, we practiced tacking and jibing for about three hours and completed a man overboard drill. We headed back to Mountain Point after taking down all five sails and dropping anchor. We had a Thanksgiving-style dinner, and now we have our first MTE class and another beautiful night here in the BVI.
