Location: Nuka Hiva
Happy Friday, everyone! And its a good one at that. The crew of the Vela woke up in Nuku Hiva, surrounded by tall cliffs and green mountains, for the third time after our long passage. Some of the crew started the morning off with some rescue dive scenarios, while others chilled on the boat or went to shore. After a great lunch, everyone went to shore to explore and hopefully find some snacks. Unfortunately, all of the grocery stores were closed because of Good Friday, but the crew made the best of it and had a blast hanging out on the island. We walked around, went to some tide pools, played some basketball, looked at architecture, and more. After a sick dinghy ride back, the crew had a chill evening on the boat. We swam, saw a ton of reef manta rays, and after dinner, a few people even went on a night snorkel. While relatively uneventful, any day in paradise is a good one.
I am finishing up this blog a day before the crew disembarks back into the real world. The feeling is surreal, and while I apologize for the late blog, I am glad that I am able to look back on what was probably my favorite place we went to. It was definitely the most breathtakingly beautiful, and the vibe of the island was wonderful. With that said, thank you to the loved ones for reading these blogs, and rest assured that we cant wait to see you soon.
