Hello everyone!!!
Today started off with an all-hands-on-deck 6:30 wake-up to go fuel up at the nearby fuel dock. This took about an hour and a half. There were off-and-on squalls all day, which was a nice change from the hot sun we had on passage. Breakfast was baked oats with strawberries, Jakes specialty (the only thing he can cook, it seems)! After breakfast, we headed down to the saloon for a leadership class where Maya and I gave our presentation on strategies for change. Class ended, and we had free time to study and rest up until lunch. Everyone either called home, swam, slept, or studied. For lunch, we had sandwiches, which were very good. We warmly welcomed a little rain with our lunch! We cleaned up and hopped into the Emergency First Responder course. Mostly everyone is doing this course, aside from the ones who are already certified.
We started with Ben explaining the steps you should follow to check over an injured person, and then we split into two groups, with one group being the injured and the other group being responsible for diagnosing them. We ran through the SAMPLE steps, and then we headed up to the cockpit to run through the steps to bandage different injuries. We were split into two groups. Group 1: Rescuing; Group 2: Injured. Then we would rotate roles and so on. We then did a whole group lesson on splints and then paired off to practice. Everyone made it very fun! Then we had dinner, spaghetti bolognese with yummy broccoli. We had dinner in the salon because of the heavy rain. We were all squished together on the cushions, and we ended dinner with a squeeze. After dinner, we headed into the anchor watch rotation and bedtime. We had a good day anchored in our amazing and beautiful anchorage!
I love and miss you, Mama and Papa! Clancy and Lovey, I cant wait to cuddle up with you!
