Location: Nuka Hiva

Another day waking up in the most beautiful anchorage Ive ever seen. The morning started off with Seamanship class where we learnt about VHF and how to radio. It was cool to learn about and understand how communication works. We then had lunch, which was delicious. After lunch, we all got ready to go on a small hike on part of Nuka Hiva. We followed a trail up one of the volcanic mountains up onto the top cliff, picking up some furry friends on the way. Hugo and Baxter were two local dogs who followed us all the way up. All the way being on the very edge of the cliffs, making me slightly nervous. Nonetheless, they stuck with us the whole way up and back down. It was adorable. When we reached the top, the views were incredible. Looking over the island terrain left me speechless that I am here (check out photos for reference). The drone joined us from the boat and took some footage. Mac (aka Paloma) may have had too much fun with the drone, getting a bit close to our heads. But he got to the coolest shoots Ive ever seen!!! Then we hiked back down and found a black sand beach. Some went swimming, others explored around the rocks. It was beautiful. This island is truly unlike anything Ive ever seen before. Then we headed back to the boat and had some amazing dinner made by our wonderful chefs. Then, after dinner, it was the moment we had all been waiting for.

TRIVIA TIME!!!!! As a little Easter celebration, Harrison and I organized a challenging but fun trivia game for the whole boat. We had Geography, Guess the song, Sport, History, and Vela rounds, with a bonus celebrity round. Questions ranged from what is the only country that lies on all four hemispheres to whats Emmas favorite Taylor Swift song. A special mention to Team WD40 (in Spanish) who called the former German prime minister Angela Irkel. Close enough. It was a very fun evening, and everyone got super involved. The winning team was. pardon the name. the tickle monsters!!! (consisting of Jay, Morgan C, Brookes, Maisy, and Emma). A very enjoyable day aboard Vela in the most amazing anchorage of Nuka Hiva. Very grateful for everyone aboard this boat.

Sending all my love to my family back home!! I miss you all so much. See you very soon!!
