Location: Underway to the Marquesas
I woke up this morning (12:30 pm) with two doors lying on the floor of the fo’c’sle. The bathroom crew decided to try and fix the extractors for the bathrooms. I am assuming this is a follow-up to the fiasco that occurred a few days ago. I am very excited with the prospect of these fans being fixed because as someone who lives in the Fo’c’sle and exracting of bathroom scents that I can get I will take. Also, port aft has been smelling lively lately. Anyways, for lunch today we had pizza, which turned out very well, cheers to Head Chef Helena, because that seemed like a pain to make.
On top of that, we then had speed dating in Leadership. This activity was centered around us getting to know each other better, which, despite the ample amount of time that we spend with each other on nightwatch, was surprising with how much we still had to share. We then had Oceanography with Dr. Nacho, which was a pretty easy class, as this unit has a lot of overlap with Marine Bio. We have introduced an assassin game to Argo, you get a name, an object, and a location, then if you get that person with that object in that location you then eliminate them and get their target. For any parents who remember Senior Assassin from their child’s high school days, it follows the same general structure. The wind has picked back up today we had gusts up to 25 knots which was delightful, we were able to back off the rpms to save fuel as well and still maintain 8 knots. I’m sure Nick is happy to back off the fuel after we went through 600 gallons of water yesterday. My bad, Nick. I did like 5 loads of laundry, hope you don’t read this. It is also Will’s Birthday today, twenty-first nonetheless. You may feel bad for Will having a dry twenty-first, but don’t worry, there is never a dry day on Argo; he definitely sat in a puddle at some point. Martin (Spanish one) made Will chocolate peanut butter Rice Krispies for his birthday to cap off the day. I don’t think I’m supposed to talk about ETA to parents, but we’re getting close to finishing this passage this weekend, knocking on wood, and barring gross mechanical failure, so we are all looking forward to calling and talking to you guys to share stories about the passage and see what’s been going on at home.
Hope all is well at home to my family, can’t wait to talk,
All the best,
