Location: Pigeon Island, Guadeloupe

Today we woke up to yet another stunning location. Still in Guadeloupe, but this time anchored off of Pigeon Island (Jacque Cousteau’s favorite dive spot)! After a speed-run breakfast, we took the dingy shuttles to land and started our wild adventure of cannoning. Now everyone knows cannoning is not for the faint of heart, but we had no idea what type of adventure we had signed up for. We managed to take only two cramped trips in Oliver’s (our icon of a guide, name pronounced only with a dramatic french accent, Ol-e-vair) truck. We squeezed into our fashionable shortie wetsuits. After admiring how dashing we all looked in our wetsuit/diaper/helmet combo, we took a 20-minute hike to begin our real adventure, even though we had already experienced enough excitement for the day. A series of TBS technical butt slides) and many bruises later, we were faced with a 20-foot finale. Some braved the cliff jumping, others sent it down the natural water slide, and everyone laughed at the epic reactions. After our excursion of a lifetime, we were treated with optional shore lunch. Upon coming back to Vela, we all enjoyed our pre-dinner ocean showers, free dive lessons from Calum, and filled up on tomato soup and rolls. Turns out Smash is a mean bread maker. Now for a marine biology class before we can clock out for the night. RIP Conner and Tolo’s phone. Both will forever be with us in spirit.

PS: A flying fish flew into the head through an open hatch after class. It is now being dissected…
