Everyone’s wake-up call today was me clashing pans together. A very bold move, as one of our instructors said, but hey, no one missed breakfast. For breakfast, we enjoyed crepes made by our instructor Smash (Thanks, Smash!) after we all briefed for our practice rescue dives. We all learned how to save a panicked diver, passive diver, and unconscious diver on the surface. It’s more fun than you think to pretend to need saving. The highlight of the morning for everyone, I think, was watching Q and Elling try to save each other. They went a step further into the rescue by trying to carry each other onto the boat using the ladder, with one of them pretending to be passed out. Let’s just say they were both failed rescue attempts, but verrrry funny to watch. After we were done the rescue exercises, we all passed out on top of deck and waited for lunch. After lunch, we hopped back in the water to practice our rescue skills but for underwater. Everyone did a great job learning all the skills today! Then Q, Elling, Rohan, Toby, Cameron, and Ripley tried to coach me into doing a backflip off the bow of the boat. No backflips were made, but there were plenty of laughs. Hopefully, I can make up for it by actually doing a backflip tomorrow. After shower time, Q, Ripley, Kat, and I all lounged out on the top deck and read together ’til we had a dive log book party in the salon.
