Location: Underway to Bonaire
Today was our third day of passage between Dominica and Bonaire. The morning started off with a bang for watch team 2 (Caro, Liam, Jay, Maya W, Brooks, Maisy, and Claire), who had watch from 8-12 am. Captain Mac elected to tack and change our course as our arrival to Bonaire would be too early. This essentially meant turning back around and reversing the previous day’s work because we were too speedy! They kept themselves busy with crazy, confusing riddles about trains and lines and other nonsense games. They practiced heaving, too, along with tacking. The 12-4 watch was less eventful but was still great for Watch Team 3 (Harrison, Harry, Morgan G, Maya L, Emma, Sam, and James). I (Harrison) taught a game I learned at a summer camp called Roast and Toast, where you both compliment everyone and give a lighthearted roast. It was a super fun game and rounded out the watch well. By the way Harry is a prodigy at helming, some are whispering that he’s surpassed Mac. Watch team 1 ( Jake, Graham, Paloma, Morgan C, Henry, Brooke, and Ben) got a beautiful sunrise to close out the night watches. After lunch, we had two classes, Seamanship and Marino Bio. We had our first Seamanship exam for our International Crew Competency License. For the rest of the day, I’m not entirely sure what everyone else did, but I completed some fish IDs for our log book and did some other assignments.
