Location: Tahiti
Today is one of our last days aboard Vela altogether. We got to Tahiti yesterday, so today we woke up docked in the marina, our last destination of the trip. We got started with a delicious breakfast of scrambled eggs with goat cheese made by our incredible chef,s Harrison, Brooks, and Jay. Right after the cleanup, we jumped straight into the beginnings of boat appreciation. We were divided into different teams: team bucket, galley gang, bubble bath time, bunk brigade, and bilge squad. Each group tackled different cleaning and organization jobs throughout the entire day. I was a part of the team bucket with Graham, Caro, Maya W., and honorary addition Mac (Geraldine). We spent the entire day up on deck washing everyones type 1 and type 5 PFDs, gumby suit bags, lifejackets, and all the dive gear. It was a lot of fun hanging out on deck listening to music and washing, drying, and organizing all the gear. Everyone else was busy cleaning out the laz, anchor locker, bilges, galley, and more. We were all getting involved and enjoying giving back to Vela, our home for the past 88 days. After we finished up with our first leg of BA, we tidied up the deck and hung out until dinner. It was chicken, bean, and rice bowls, and everybody was so hungry after a long day working hard to get our boat back to brand new. For squeeze, my question was what niche thing everyone is going to miss about Vela and our crew. It was awesome to hear everyones answers, and it made me realize how much we have done together on this trip and everything we have been through. It is so sad that we only have one full day together left on Vela, and I know everyone is getting to know each other and going to these amazing places so much.
To Mom, Dad, Silas, and Riley,
I miss you guys and will see you soon!
