Location: Tenerife, Canary Islands
The crew of Argo awoke today to the much-anticipated news coming from half way around the world. Some rejoiced in the election of the next president of the United States, while others lamented the outcome. Regardless of opinion though, we were all happily distracted by preparations for our hike from Cruz del Carmen to Punta del Hidalgo. The adventure would take us across 6 miles of beautiful Canary mountains, and through countless small villages and landmarks. With nothing more than a few scrapes and bruises, we took our time to enjoy a nice meal at our destination and take in some more of the sights before heading back to our beloved vessel. We were all grateful to enjoy some of the best Tenerife has to offer before making our final departure. Tomorrow will be our last full day on land before we set out for the big trek across the Atlantic, and the excitement (amongst other things) is building. We will have a ton of food to put away as Ian and Tina spent all day shopping at the Carrefour, but tonight we’ll enjoy our final night out before being put to the ultimate test on the high seas. We’ll use everything we’ve learned up until this point, and with a little bit of luck we’ll make it nearly three weeks on the water to the warm waters of the Caribbean!
