Location: Underway to Nuku Hiva

Today was Grahams birthday, and the chefs outdid themselves in celebration. For lunch, we discovered just how delicious pizza can be onboard Vela. With so many different flavors to choose from, it was a challenge to try them all before we became too full. For dinner, Emma, Morgan G., and Harrison prepared a classic Tiki Masala with naan bread to top it all off. For dessert, they baked an Oreo-brownie-cookie creation, even shaping one into a bottle of Tahin (Grahams favorite spice)!

Beyond the incredible food, it was also a very productive day. Maya W. and Brooks helped me create a new gasket for one of our generators. Maisy assisted me in cutting a ratchet strap to the proper length for securing the prop shaft. Meanwhile, Claire and Watch Team 1 organized the dinghy grab rails to ensure theyre ready for Nuku Hiva.

Vela has been sailing very well with blue skies and force five winds behind her. The forecast predicts the wind will lighten over the next few days, starting tomorrow afternoon, so well need to work hard to maintain our speed.

Until next time!

Mac

P.S. To the LaBarges: I love and miss you all. I wish you could be here for this epic passage.
