Location: Underway to the Galapagos

What is up, my loyal readers? Today was a pretty eventful day. We finally crossed the Equator. Which is why I have been selected to write this blog, they needed someone with the necessary skills required to represent the festivities of today (it was simply my day to be skipper). I started my day, technically, on the 12:00 – 4:00 AM watch. It was very chill, as watch team 3 is the chillest of the watch teams. After that, I went to bed. End of Blog Nah, just playin’ gotchu guys. I woke up for lunch, which is exactly when I learned I was skipper for the day. After lunch, we were informed by Captain Nick of the ensuing festivities. In order for us pollywogs to become shellbacks, we had to enter a series of trials to appease Neptune’s court. If that sentence doesn’t make any sense to some people it prolly means you’re a pollywog and I can’t be seen talking to you. Anywho, for my skill, I performed “Hamlet as told on the streets,” which my family will certainly understand, and if you don’t, then I can’t be seen talking to you. Everyone had great performances, and all of us pleased Neptune. After our performances were rated by Neptune and his cronies, we were then sent into our next trials. These consisted of a slip’n’slide on deck, being baptised by Neptune, and bobbing for apples in the dishy pit. Finally, we reached the moment we had all been waiting for. It was time to physically cross the Equator, but we were not going to be sailing or motoring across, that would be far too mundane for any Sea|Mester crossing. No, we were to swim it. So, Captain Nick gave the order to put on the ladder and jump into the middle of the Pacific Ocean. So that’s exactly what we did. It was amazing. You guys realize what kind of bragging rights this gives me? I’m officially better than almost everyone. I, and I guess my fellow crew on Argo, have officially swam across the Equator. Pollywogs no longer. Once we got back on Argo, we wrapped up the day with a lovely meal cooked by our head chef, Colby. Today totally ruled.

Finally, I just want to make sure to mention, as the title implies, today is my sister Anna’s birthday. She is super cool, and I miss her a lot. So, I want everyone reading this blog to say out loud. “Wow. Anna must be super cool if Jonas is willing to designate a part of his blog to her. I hope she has a wonderful birthday!”

Love you, Anna,

Signed – Jonas J., Newly Deemed Shellback.
