Location: Rodney Bay, St. Lucia

Happy Halloween to all that are reading this blog!! I must say it was quite the day for the Ocean Star crew. We woke up for the first morning at this beautiful port here in St.Lucia. I can speak for everyone on board when I say it was lovely not having to wake up for any watches last night given that we are docked andddddd given that we are docked, we are hooked up to a power generator, which means ACCCC. One of the best nights of sleep I have had since I stepped on board, and for the first time EVER, I actually used my bed sheet to cover me. The feeling when I woke up this morning was something that I will never forget. Had a wonderful English breakfast cooked up by none other than Captain Kris himself. Breakfast was followed by a well-taught lecture by Sam in oceanography, and then it was time for another annual BA (Boat Appreciation). It’s always a good thing to thank our beautiful sailboat and treat her to a little wash. Our crew did a wonderful job. My deckie group did the best (obviously), but everyone contributed, and this boat has never looked better. After our BA was finished up, we had a mid-semester check-in. The staff had us write on a piece of paper how our trip has been and what we love or might not love, how things can improve, and just overall let them know how we are doing. I, of course, wrote how much I hate it here and how going home has never sounded so great. Joking, joking, this semester has been THE time of my life, and I can freely admit it has its ups and downs at certain points, but this trip has been nothing short of extraordinary. Right before dinner was served, we all got into our costumes, and it was so funny seeing the ideas everyone came up with. Captain then served us some mouth-watering turkey burgers (I myself had four burgers, but let’s keep that between us). It was then time for some good ole fashion trick or treating. Our very talented PPC (Party Planning Committee) set up a very fun and amusing trick or treat, which involved five different spots to trick or treat, all of which involved a riddle or even a dance battle to win the treats. It was an absolute blast, and we all very much enjoyed being able to celebrate Halloween at sea!!
