Location: Underway to the Marquesas

This morning we were blessed with some sunshine after two days of being rained on all day and all night. About a day or two ago, while it was raining, Eliza and I were not only soaked by the rain but were pelted by birds that had fallen from the mast, making our 4 am bow watch that much more interesting. Fast forward to our watch last night that started at 8 pm; we came up with a fun new game to pass the time, which included trying to guess movie quotes. We were also blessed with the presence of our fearless leader Bryant. We shared many ghost encounter stories, including a terrifying one from Seby about his father’s haunted house in Florence, Italy, and Tim’s haunted childhood house. Our next watch was this morning which was a 7:30 am wake-up time ’til lunch, which happens to be one of my favorite watches. Everyone is still fast asleep, but you get one of the first glimpses of morning light. For the past couple of watches, my team and I have been going through the different parts of the boat, sails, ropes, and other everyday boat things. I find these things very interesting and enjoy broadening my knowledge of what it takes to keep this ship afloat. My goal for this passage is to be able to lead putting up the mainsail and know all the different components. I have also been practicing my rolling hitch, which is the perfect knot to hang up my brand new hammock I got in Panama. We ended the day with a delicious dinner of pulled pork sandwiches with homemade bread and BBQ sauce with cinnamon buns and fruit pie for dessert made by Alex, Jenna, and Sam. Our pie was a testament to Pi Day! (March 14 aka 3.14)

We are officially 2/3 of the way done with this trip and have 2/3 of this passage left to go. It is so crazy how fast the time has gone and that I have only known these people for two months. It feels like years. The things we’ve done and places we’ve seen, most people only dream about their whole lifetime. I will cherish this last month and the memories we have already made forever.

HAPPY EARLY BIRTHDAY KOY AND KARIS. I love and miss you more than words can ever describe
