Location: Underway to Nuka Hiva
Today was day 11 of passage to Nuka Hiva, and we are a day or two past the halfway point. Everyone is a lot more accustomed to the watches now, and some watch groups have been coming up with unique games. Watch team three (Sam, Emma, Graham, Morgan G, Caro, Jay, Henry) has been coming up with different freestyles that are hilarious. We also recently found out that canned fruit is fair game to eat on watch, so they have been going fast. Pineapple and peaches are a favorite.
Today started off at around 10 am for most of everybody except the watch team 2, who had the 8-12 am watch. Harrison, Paloma, and Caro started working on lunch, which was garlic parmesan pasta. Most everyone enjoyed it except for Morgan C, who despises garlic, props for still eating it though! We then had a Marine Bio lecture about the Polar Seas. Claire and Sam taught Seamanship next, where we split up into our three groups. We are just finishing up our practice Nav Master exam and getting ready to take the real exam in the next week. While one group was on, some students chose to take a nap, while others worked on the marine bio paper or fish IDs.
Group three finished right in time for dinner. Dinner was Sloppy Joe bowls, and the delicious homemade bread made by Morgan C. Tonights squeeze question was last minute, so I asked, What is the coolest animal you have seen? Most people responded with various whales, sharks, or safari animals, except for Ben, who said Wobbegong (Google it)
Shout out to the family back home, cant wait to talk to yall soon!
