Location: Bonaire
Hey squad! Today was arguably one of the best days on the boat this far. For me, Harry, Harrison, James, and Morgan G (who made naan, of course), it started at 3 AM for our watch shift. Right when we got up on deck, we saw Bonaire! Everyone got pretty excited and started helping out, taking down sails, and prepping for our docking. Graham and Jake came up at about seven and started helping, which was really nice. After everyone woke up and got a good breakfast, we docked in Bonaire! Right away we got busy with boat to bed, which meant washing all the salt off everything and really giving Vela a nice good cleaning.
After that, we had some delicious Cuban sandwiches made by Sam and were sorted into our dive teams for the checkout dive. While group 1 dove, everyone else got some free time and shore time, and vice versa. The dives were so incredible! Crystal clear turquoise waters and so on. Many. Fish. After the dives, we all went to the dock locker rooms to shower, and boy, oh boy, were they the best showers of the trip. Taking freshwater showers really makes you notice how salty you actually are. Once everyone was nice and clean, we sat down for dinner, which was some very warm and hearty lentil soup again made by Sam. My mom always made lentil soup at home for me, so it was very comforting and gave me (and Im sure some others) a very good taste of home. Then we had some free time/shore time, and all went to this super fun sushi restaurant for some much-needed relaxation. So fa,r Bonaire is absolutely stunning! We all are so excited to be here for the next five or so days. Okay thats all for now, peace out girl scouts!
Mom, Dad, and Saxton, I miss you guys so much!! Make sure to give Banjo some love for me.
