Location: St. Lucia
Today was fairly relaxing overall. We started out with a great breakfast of eggs and bacon, which was a nice change from cereal. There is nothing like waking up to the smell of bacon to make you feel at home. After our usual clean-up routine, we headed to shore for a short lecture from an SMMA representative. SMMA is the group that governs the Reef Check operations, which we will be taking part in over the next couple of days. We will be counting fish, invertebrates, and types of coral for official records. Everyone is pretty excited to take part in something so official. The rest of the day was spent exploring the town of Soufriere. Most of us ate some good local food and used the internet for a little while to check back home. We have a Marine Bio class tonight, after which I’m sure we will all be heading to bed to get a good night’s sleep for our big day tomorrow.
