Location: Underway to the Marquesas
Today was the end of the engine, in the best way possible. Just before lunch we got more sails up and started using the wind instead of the diesel to get us where we’re going. After motoring through the Doldrums it was nice to make it to the edge of the trade winds and start heading toward the Marquesas instead of south. With everything except the flying jib up we were making about 8.5 knots and made it up to 11 this evening before the wind calmed down a bit. With the forecast set to continue pretty much the same we are looking forward to some nice, quiet days and night sailing as we slowly eat up the 2500 nm that we still have to go to land.
