Day four on Argo was a success! We started off the day in the very early hours of the morning when some of the people on anchor watch had to run around and close all of the open hatches because it started to rain hard.
We then split up into groups where some people were working on watching videos and taking quizzes to get scuba certified, others were doing some confined water dives, and the rest were working on some special boat projects. We also had a brief introduction to our first class, seamanship, and are all very excited to learn the practical sailing skills that we will need for our upcoming passage to Les Saintes tomorrow night.
Even though it was raining all day, we were still able to take “jump-in showers” and swim in the warm Caribbean water (even though all of our towels were wet from the rain). We are all in agreement that being on a sailboat in the rain is a very cool experience, and our foul-weather gear makes us look pretty cool! Once we were mostly dry, we spent some time bonding below deck and making some friendship bracelets with some string we found (also pictured is a selfie that Anton took while we were making bracelets, right after he was singing Taylor Swift to us).
We ended the day on deck, huddled around each other in our foul weather gear, eating some delicious chili and cornbread, and talking about our days and our favorite music! Everyone’s positive attitude is really amazing to be around, and we all can’t wait to see what day five has in store!
(Courtney wants to wish a very happy birthday to her friend back home, Clare, and that she loves you!)
