Location: Panama City, Panama
Today started off with another 7 am wake-up; this time, I played Indian music and banged pots and pans for the wake-up. Some woke up easier than others, but eventually, everyone was in the cockpit for breakfast at 7:30. Harrison, Brooke, and Morgan C prepared fruit and bagels for us this morning. Afterward, PSCT students reviewed for their upcoming exam while everyone else chilled out while waiting on them. We then all had Marine Biology, where we learned about marine mammals. Seamanship was scheduled for today, but because of the delay, we held off until after lunch.
We are still waiting on our three sails so we can leave for the Galapagos. Mac and Sam headed to the FedEx warehouse to get more information on the arrival of our sails, but no word on that. As of yesterday, 2/3 sails were in Panama City while one still being on the Atlantic side.
For lunch, we had Pesto Pasta with Chickpeas and Cauliflower, which was very good. We then caught up on our Seamanship class. We are learning how to plot our position on a map, and each day, we are adding new steps. We had about 4 hours of free time, which was very much needed. Some did academic stuff while others slept and called home. For dinner, we had drumsticks, rice with turmeric, kale, hummus, and corn salad. Our squeeze question tonight was, What is your biggest pet peeve on the boat. Some people said the head,s and others said things like the mini fridge and how milk flies out. Hopefully, we get our sails tomorrow so we can start heading to the Galapagos.
Big shout out back home and especially to Piper!
