Location: Savanna Bay, Virgin Gorda
Anchored just off the coast of Savanna Bay, we woke up to stunning views of misty mountaintops, deep blue waters, and long sweeping beaches. However, it seemed as if the universe did not want this piece of paradise to be shared. Perhaps it is too awe-inspiring for mortal eyes, and so a constant gust and drizzle of rain attempted to keep us below decks. The crew was uninhibited in their enthusiasm, though, because today was the first day many of us had the chance to experience SCUBA diving! The first breaths underwater and the opening of an entirely new ecosystem seemed to cause a unanimous euphoria, and despite the weather, the mood on the vessel was very positive. The diving continued throughout the day, with everyone picking up skills rapidly and effectively beneath the warm waters of the Caribbean. After completing the confined water dives requirements of the course, it’s evident that the crew can’t wait to get out into the open water dives and see everything the Caribbean has to offer! We capped the day off with First Aid and CPR lessons and, after, proceeded promptly to fall asleep after such an exhausting day of activity. But I’m sure the crew thinks it was totally worth the effort!
