Location: Pearns Point, Antigua

Got to try my hand at being Skipper today, and since it was my job to wake everyone up, I had to do it in style – by belting “All-Star” by Smash Mouth, of course! We chowed down on Smash’s delicious “real breakfast” concoction of eggs, cheese, mushrooms, and more tasty things under a magnificent blue sky. We learned about several of the ship’s safety procedures, like where the lifeboats are, how to lower the dinghies into the water, and how to work the belay pins which raise and lower the sails. All the students who had already gotten their Open Water Dive Certifications went off ship to test their gear, while those of us that hadn’t stayed on board to learn about PADI with Sydnei. One highlight of the day was showering with fresh water on the deck, watching the sunset, and dancing ourselves dry to the sweet music of Stevie Wonder. Dinner was perfect, the stars were out, and everyone was happy. After dinner, we jammed out to 2000s pop while cleaning, and the cherry on top was that we all passed our quizzes and the exam with flying colors. Huzzah!! Soon enough, we will all be out there together, exploring the underwater world. Double huzzah!! We are all so grateful to be here in this incredible place with one another, in what seems like a group filled with like-minded, passionate, and inspiring individuals. We’re really starting to look like a crew.
