It’s your girl back at it again coming at you live from Union. Wow, so much to tell you about today. Actually, I am not going to lie. It was a very chill day. The day started at 7 am sharp on the dot. Well, actually- at 6:05 am. My task this morning was to wake everyone up at 7 am, so naturally, I set an alarm for 6: 50am. For some reason, I woke up at 6:05 am, thinking it was seven, and I was late, failing my first task of the day. So I shot out of bed, grabbed my phone to wake everyone up, and ran over to the salon. When I saw the sun was still rising, I realized that I was very off and going crazy and walked straight back into bed. Once 7 am finally came, I woke everyone up to the song Island In The Sun by Weezer. The staff rose the anchors, and we departed from Tobago Cays. We got to eat our breakfast of eggs, bacon, bread, and Nutella while motoring over to Union. Once we got to Union, we dropped our anchors and went to Oceanography class. Today’s oceanography class was SO cool. We learned all about wave energy. We learned about breaks, how waves form fun fact it is the depth of the water and how steep the bottom really plays a crucial role), tsunamis, and more. After class, we had our COVID tests (our favorite) (that was sarcasm if you couldn’t tell) and got some school work done. Sarah is head chef today, and sous chefs are Alex and Sam, they made BLTs for lunch. After lunch, we cleaned up and did passage prep for tomorrow’s passage to Grenada. We removed the sail covers, put the quarter lifts and lazy jacks on the mainsail, coiled down and capsized all of the sheets, lashed down the dinghy, ran the jib sheets, and attached the jib and flying jib halyards (and YES, I finally understand what all of that means). I felt really fancy typing all of those fancy sailing words. After passage prep, we were able to have some surprise shore time. Sarah, Bretty, Mackenzie, and I took the first dinghy over and went to all the supermarkets in search of dark chocolate, looked around at some boutiques, and sat at a cafe and had some much-needed ice cream. Around 4 pm, we headed back onto the boat and got to shower and get some more work done before dinner at 6. Sarah, Sam, and Alex made stir fry for dinner today and it was so good! At dinner, I asked the question: If you were a wrestler, what would your entrance song be? Mine would be the theme song from the Pirates of the Caribbean (ironic right), and everyone had similar hype-up song answers- well, everyone except for Amanda. Amanda answered here comes the sun by the Beatles. What would yours be?

Now everyone is jamming out to their wrestling entrance songs while they clean up from dinner, and once clean up is done, we are going to gather in the salon for leadership class where Alex is going to give his long-awaited presentation, and then we are going to put away provisions. That’s about it for now, folks! I will talk to you again soon!

Signing off,
Rae C
