Location: San Blas, Panama
The crew of the Vela woke up in between a bunch of stunningly beautiful islands and reefs near Kalugirdup (Cabos Cay) (look it up; its sick). If that wasnt enough to make a grown man cry, Graham, Harry, and Paloma had worked hard the night before to make sure some perfect cinnamon rolls were ready to go shortly after wakeup. After breakfast, the crew gathered in the salon for a marine biology lecture – which graciously postponed a quiz in order to make the day more fun.
On that note, after the lecture (and some delectable pasta carbonara made by Harry, Graham, and Maya L), the crew went to shore to hang out on a beach and snorkel.
I stayed behind – along with Maya and Morgan C- in order to get some much needed rest and get some homework done. Once everyone got back, we left our little slice of heaven in order to head East so that we could make it to an island with a village for shore time tomorrow. While on our short passage, we learned how to measure distance, time, and speed in seamanship, which was actually pretty cool and fun. We also got to spectate Maya L and Harry go through a warzone in the galley – they locked in hard to give us one of, if not the best meal that we have gotten so far: garlic bread (with garlic that Jay chopped), Mongolian chicken, and rice. Doesnt sound like much, but it was done RIGHT and took a lot of work. Restaurant quality, if Im being honest.
After cleanup and dinner, we finally took our marine bio species ID quiz, which everyone did well on.
As of right now, I am chilling on the martingale finishing up this blog – so thank you to everyone who tunes I,n and Ill see ya in a few weeks!
