Location: San Blas Islands -> Shelter Bay, Panama
*To the tune of Willy Nelson* On the sea again, I just can’t wait to get on the sea again. I find love is setting sail with my friends, and I can’t wait to get on the sea again!!
Hola Amigos! We have just wrapped up our time in the San Blas Islands, or as we learned yesterday, to call it, Kuna Yala (Kuna Land). This morning, we took up anchor bright and early to make it back to the main island to check out at customs and ate some delish’ overnight oats on the way. Once back in our original spot, we made the most of our waiting period by having classes, doing a speedy and seamless passage prep, and swimming and jumping off the boat. Some of us tried to teach Harry how to do a front flip, and he really tried his best. After six attempts, he let it go for the day, but I’m confident we can get him front-flipping at least by the very end of the trip. Many students also took care to work hard on their Marine Biology Literature Review assignment. If today has proved anything about Seamester, it’s that we work hard and play hard.
As I write this, we are underway to Shelter Bay where we will train and prepare to go through the Panama Canal. Even though we have absolutely loved these islands and all the fun times we’ve had here, our team is super stoked about this next adventure.
Lastly, tonight during squeeze we all talked about the people who inspire us, and if you’re reading this blog, I think there’s a good chance you were mentioned. So, a big shout out to all the parents, siblings, grandparents, and friends out there whose light, love, passion, and work ethic make us want to be better people. All my people, you know who you are and know how much I am inspired and uplifted by you. Thank you for going through this life with me!
