Location: Dog Island, San Blas
It was a good morning aboard STV Argo. Anna (student) made some delicious French toast for breakfast; I was especially excited about this because I was finally able to use my brother’s Christmas gift to me, a bottle of New Hampshire maple syrup; thanks, John-Paul! After clean-up, it was time to weigh anchor to go explore some of the other amazing San Blas islands. The day got even better as our emergency hydraulic propulsion test was a flawless success. We dropped anchor at Dog Island, and the students jumped into the water to swim to shore for their marine bio lab. After class, students spent some time exploring the island, which took all of 10 minutes. The squeeze question tonight was if you had to pick one person to survive for a month with on Dog Island, who would it be? Gabe was the runaway victor for his humor and survival instinct. Squeeze ended with another rock paper scissors tournament, with the loser being entitled to cheer their victor. This ended with loud cheering for Emma and Sandra, but only Emma took home the cake.
To my family: I wish you all could be here to experience these amazing islands with me! Sam, I hope your foot gets better soon! I love you all so much.
