Location: Ahe Atoll

Yo! As my last skipper day, I chose a nice, calm wakeup song of CBAT by Hudson Mohawke with quite mixed reactions, then I played Happy Birthday Henry (reggae version) for a personal birthday wakeup. Today was our last day in Ahe atoll as well as Henry’s 19th birthday! This morning started out awesome with frozen smoothie bowls with strawberry, peach, and banana, which were amazing.
After breakfast, the rescue diver course went for a training dive around the boat while I got to hang back and finish up my final oceanography assignment since I’m not in rescue. Once I finished that up, I got to hang out under the shade of a mega tarp surrounded by the coolest views.
After the rescue people got back, we had pork and rice bowls for lunch, which were also really good (Today is quite possibly my favorite meal day on the entire trip). After eating, we got started on passage prep for Moorea, which we would set sail for later in the day.
This afternoon, we got to go on an awesome snorkel at the entrance of the atoll, where the strong current floated us along like a lazy river. This wasn’t just a normal snorkel, though, because we were SURROUNDED BY SHARKS. At one point, I was floating at the surface, and one of them started coming towards me vertically, which was awesome and also definitely a bit scary, and after that, a group of around 10 of these sharks were circling our snorkel group. It was super cool, but we got out after that.
After the snorkel, we finished up passage prep and set off towards Moorea. Dinner was burgers and French fries, which was great, and then for a special birthday dessert, we had angel food cake with homemade whipped cream, which was fire, and the stars and Milky Way were out at dinner, which was very cool.
To everyone back home, I miss you and will see you soon!
